The Bears' miserable season is finally nearing its merciful conclusion following a pathetic 6-3 loss to the Seahawks on Thursday Night Football. It's expected that the roster will look much different in 2025, though one maligned player seemingly sealed his fate with a terrible performance.

Fourth-year LG Jake Curhan, who was filling in for the injured Tevin Jenkins, was routinely beaten all night and had two key penalties that directly cost Chicago points.

Originally an undrafted free agent, Curhan proved he has no business starting and likely shouldn't be a depth piece either.

Bears LG Jake Curhan Suffers Terrible Game in Week 17 Loss

Curhan was never supposed to be a starter in the first place. Ryan Poles ignored the offensive line in the offseason and the Bears are paying the repercussions for it, but even Poles can see Curhan can't be re-signed.

In the first half, a marvelous TD pass from Caleb Williams to Rome Odunze was wiped off the board thanks to a holding penalty from Curhan. On the final drive that highlighted Thomas Brown's ineptitude at time management, Curhan committed an inexcusable false start on 4th-and-1. Williams converted the ensuing play, yet he shouldn't have been put in that situation in the first place.

If the Bears are serious about putting Williams in a better situation next year, these are the easy, obvious decisions the front office needs to make. Curhan grades poorly at Pro Football Focus, ranking 100th out of 129 qualified guards in pass blocking.

His teammates were clearly frustrated with the mistakes as well, as Curhan threw up his hands after both penalties as if he'd done nothing wrong. Williams was sacked seven times and avoided several more with excellent scrambling, making this contest a perfect representation of Chicago's horrible line play that's helped torpedo a once-promising season.

Still only 26 years old, perhaps Curhan can develop into a solid player at some point. He's not ready now though, and Poles needs to address the elephant in the room.
