The Chicago Bears had their bye in Week 5 and have the Washington Commanders next on the slate on Monday Night Football.

The time off helped some guys recover from some injuries, but that wasn't the case with defensive tackle Grady Jarrett. The Bears didn't officially practice today, but they still released an estimated injury report. On Thursday, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic tweeted out that Jarrett (knee) would have been a DNP. Jaquan Brisker (quad), Kyle Monangai (thigh), and Darnell Wright (elbow) were the other DNP's, but this designation isn't a good step forward for Jarrett.

Grady Jarrett Listed as DNP on Bears Estimated Injury Report

This has been the same injury that has popped up for Jarrett since the Week 1 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. He was able to play in Weeks 1-3, but since then, he's yet to step back on the field. Prior to going down, Jarrett wasn't playing the best football.

In 2025, he's recorded just four total tackles with zero sacks and TFLs. Jarrett has logged three QB hits and three pressures. According to PFF, he has a 55.7 overall grade (112th among 186 graded defensive linemen), 56.8 pass rush grade (128th among 186 graded defensive linemen), and a 57.6 run defense grade (83rd among 186 graded defensive linemen).

This isn't the production the Bears expected to get when they brought Jarrett in. During free agency, he got a three-year, $42.75 million deal that featured $28.5 million guaranteed. Chicago wanted a run-stuffer force along the interior who could provide this team with a leader as well.

Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case thus far in the Windy City. Friday and Saturday's injury reports will paint a better picture of Jarrett's status since Thursday was an estimated report as they ran a walkthrough. The game being on Monday gives him an extra day to rest up, but it doesn't look good currently.

It might be in Chicago's best interest to let Jarrett rest up until he's as healthy as possible. He hasn't been at his best this season, so having up out there battling a knee injury likely won't be productive. It's never ideal to miss multiple games, but that may be where he's heading.

The Bears need him to increase his play upon return but there's no answer on when that will be.
