While non-playoff teams like the Chicago Bears have begun to look ahead to the offseason and the 2025 season, playoff contenders are trying to upgrade their rosters ahead of the postseason. They are looking to add more depth and veteran competence to make sure they have the perfect roster going into the playoffs.

With that goal in mind, an AFC contender just signed a name very familiar to Bears fans. Eddie Jackson, who left Chicago in the 2024 offseason, is joining the Los Angeles Chargers practice squad before the last two games of the regular season.

NFL News: Chargers Sign Safety Eddie Jackson

The Bears released Jackson in the 2024 offseason after a down season in 2023. He missed five games and wasn't at his peak form, receiving a career-worst 58.6 grade on PFF.

Unfortunately, the 31-year-old safety couldn't turn things around after signing with the Baltimore Ravens this summer. He started four games and played nine before getting released at the end of November after his PFF grade dropped to 50.7.

Jackson will try to crack the rotation in Los Angeles as he will reunite with former Bears pass rusher and teammate Khalil Mack. The Chargers are dealing with a few injuries to their safety rotation as Elijah Molden missed Week 16, and Alohi Gilman is still on the injured reserve list. Jackson could get elevated to the active roster in the last two weeks of the season and get a chance to re-prove himself.

The fourth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Jackson made two Pro Bowls and earned All-Pro first-team honors in his first three seasons in the league.

Jackson's individual brilliance hasn't translated to team success so far in his career, as he has one playoff game on his resume. At the dawn of his career, Jackson hopes to potentially find postseason success with the Chargers.
