We are in the second week of preseason football, and battles around the league are starting to kick up a notch. Some starters are getting some in-game reps while other teams are being cautious.
Nonetheless, everyone wants to head into the regular season as healthy as possible, but that isn't the reality of the situation. An injury to a quarterback on the New York Jets led to Nathan Peterman landing a workout with them, according to the New York Post.

Ex-Bears QB Nathan Peterman Works Out for Jets
The Jets have another former Bears QB in Justin Fields as their starter, but they need another camp arm after Tyrod Taylor is done for the remainder of the preseason after undergoing a knee scope.
New York has rookie QB Brady Cook and Adrian Martinez are currently getting extended reps but the need for another veteran is there. Peterman has been in the NFL since 2017 and played with the Bears from 2022-2023.
In five outings (one start) with Chicago, Peterman was 14-of-25 for 139 yards, one passing touchdown and one interception.
Following his tenure in the Windy City, Peterman spent time on the New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, and Las Vegas Raiders practice squads in 2024 but never made it onto the active rosters. Considering that Cook is also dealing with an ankle injury, this may be Peterman's best chance to get back onto an NFL roster.
While Taylor is still expected to return in a couple of weeks, Peterman has a chance to showcase his skillset to other teams around the league if he lands in New York. The fact that this is his first workout of the summer highlights how he's viewed in league circles currently.
If he in fact gets signed, he could use some practice sessions and the last week of the preseason to audition for other teams in the league. The odds aren't high he'll make the Jets 53-man roster but it doesn't take away his chance to latch on elsewhere.
It's been a rough couple of seasons for Peterman and this may be his best chance to land on his feet and find another job ahead of the 2025 season.
