As the NFL regular season comes to an end, playoff teams will continue to make roster moves to perfect their group heading into the postseason. As a result, we will see plenty of transactions in the next two weeks and some of them will include familiar faces to Bears fans.

That is exactly what happened when the Kansas City Chiefs announced their latest signing on Monday. According to the team's official release, the Chiefs are signing former Bears tight end Robert Tonyan to their practice squad.

NFL News: Chiefs Sign TE Robert Tonyan

This is a surprising move for the Chiefs, who already have Travis Kelce, Noah Gray, and Anthony Firkser in their tight end room. Plus, they just designated Peyton Hendershot for return after his injury.

This obviously makes it tough for Tonyan to carve out a role for himself. At the same time, the injuries are bound to happen, especially with the Chiefs expected to make a deep postseason run once again.

Tonyan started this season on the Vikings after signing there in the offseason. Yet, he wasn't able to establish himself in the offense there, registering no stats in his five games and 15 offensive snaps.

That was in stark contrast to his 2023 campaign in Chicago, where he played every game while starting in six. He played 323 offensive and 203 special teams snaps, finishing with 11 catches and 112 yards. Per PFF, it was the worst season of his career, receiving a 49.6 grade.

Tonyan has had a unique career so far, playing for every NFC North team. Signing with the Lions as an undrafted free agent, he then spent five seasons in Green Bay before joining the Bears and the Vikings. Kansas City will be the first non-NFC North team Tonyan will suit up for.
