The Chicago Bears have a brand new coaching staff led by the exciting Ben Johnson as the team tries to turn the page on 2024 and build around Caleb Williams. Players seem happy about the regime change, giving fans reason to be optimistic about what the future could hold.
While the organization focuses on the offseason, former head coach Matt Eberflus is preparing to serve as the Dallas Cowboys' new defensive coordinator. The Bears certainly won't miss Eberflus and his strange game management, though he's still respected in many circles around the league.
In fact, Eberflus just successfully poached one of Chicago's assistants to bring with him to Dallas, reuniting the duo as they try to build a winner with the Cowboys.
Told Carlos Polk will be the Cowboys' assistant special teams coach. He interviewed for the special teams coordinator job. He was the Cowboys' assistant special teams coach in 2019. Has been with Jacksonville, Chicago since then.

Bears Assistant Coach Carlos Polk Reunites With Matt Eberflus for Cowboys Job
According to Todd Archer of ESPN, Carlos Polk is expected to be hired as the Cowboys' assistant special teams coach. He initially interviewed for the special teams coordinator position though will now hold the same position he did in 2019.
Polk has been the Bears' assistant special teams coach since 2022. He's spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Diego Chargers, and Jacksonville Jaguars along with Chicago and Dallas. He played in the NFL from 2001-2008, starting his career with the Chargers before finishing out with the Cowboys.
The Bears aren't known to have an exceptional special teams unit. Continuity is important, though Chicago isn't suffering some kind of a massive loss here. Polk is Eberflus' guy, so it's natural that he chose to stay loyal and go to Dallas. Chicago and the Cowboys play each other in 2025, giving the conflicting coaching staffs an opportunity to do battle.
We'll see which franchise winds up in a better position a year from now. Based on how poorly Eberflus' tenure went though, it seems likely that the future favors the Bears. As Johnson continues to put his stamp on the team, fans should expect more moves in the coming weeks.
