Former Chicago Bears kicker Eddy Pineiro was one of the heroes in the Carolina Panthers’ overtime win against the New York Giants to kick off Sunday’s Week 10 slate.

Pineiro knocked through a game-winning 36-yard field goal to send the Panthers home with a win. While Bears fans were happy to see the former Chicago kicker find success on Sunday, Pineiro’s game-winning field goal has ramifications for the Bears.

As Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune points out, eight teams in the league have two wins and the Bears own Carolina’s second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

In case you forgot, the Bears got that second round pick in the blockbuster D.J. Moore trade, which involved the No. 1 overall pick.

The Panthers now have three wins on the season, which slightly decreases the value of that pick. With their being a logjam of two-win teams, the Panthers’ second-round pick is slotted at No. 41, according to Tankathon.

That being said, having the No. 41 overall pick is still great value as the Bears could use it to move up in the second round or potentially in the back half of the first round.

Chicago fans and the front office will watch to see how the rest of the season plays out for the Panthers. Carolina has played better lately ripping off two-straight wins over the Giants and the New Orleans Saints.

For Chicago’s sake, they hope the wins stop for Carolina as they want a high second-round pick in the 2025 draft.
