The Chicago Bears have a lot of work to do this offseason after missing the NFL playoffs with an uninspiring 5-12 record. Although there are several pressing needs general manager Ryan Poles must address, bolstering the offensive line should be near the top of his 'to-do' list.

After all, the Bears finished the 2024 campaign with the NFL's ninth-worst offensive line, according to Pro Football Focus. Chicago's blockers particularly left much to be desired in terms of run blocking, meaning it's in Poles' best interest to add a reliable guard or two this offseason.

Fortunately, a former All-Pro blocker has revealed that he might be considering the Windy City as a potential free-agent destination this spring.

Bears Rumors: Zack Martin Potentially Eyeing Chicago in Free Agency

In New Orleans this week for Super Bowl 59, Dallas Cowboys guard and pending free agent Zack Martin spoke with NFL analyst Adam Rank about his offseason plans.

"Does (Chicago) seem like the kind of place you would ever want to play football?" Rank asked the veteran offensive lineman.

"I don't know. I'm just trying to get healthy and figure out what I'm going to do," Martin replied, adding that he is a big fan of Chicago's culinary staples, such as deep-dish pizza and mustard on a hot dog.

Even though the ex-2014 first-rounder did his best to hold his cards close to his chest, "The Sickest Podcast" host continued to press about the former potentially joining the Bears.

"I know Dallas is a lot of fun and it's a great spot, but just promise me you'll think of Chicago," Rank pleaded.

"Yeah, I'll leave it at the back of my mind," Martin conceded.

It'll be interesting to see if the former Notre Dame product has a legitimate interest in joining the Bears. Martin has cemented himself as one of the best guards in NFL history throughout an 11-year career with the Cowboys, earning nine Pro Bowl appearances and seven All-Pro first-team odds along the way.

Nevertheless, Martin's time in Dallas could be running its course. The Cowboys fan favorite played like a shell of his former self in a 2024 season that was marred by injuries, limiting him to just 10 appearances. Now healing from season-ending ankle surgery at 34 years old, many are wondering if he'll retire rather than deal with another grueling training camp.

If Martin decides to continue playing, the Bears have more than $65.8 million to help lure him, per Spotrac. A cheap 'prove yourself' deal following an injury-plagued year could age like a fine wine if a fresh start helps the Indianapolis, IN native return to form.

At the end of the day, Bears fans will want to keep an eye on Martin ahead of free agency, which opens on Wednesday, March 12.
