Failed Bears UDFA Already Signs With Second New Team in 1 Month Since Being Cut

It looks like the Bears made the right call by moving on when they did.

The Chicago Bears are working toward finalizing their 53-man roster once their preseason run comes to an end following Friday night's exhibition game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

While it remains to be seen just what moves first-year head coach Ben Johnson and general manager Ryan Poles make, it appears as though they made the right decision to move on from an undrafted free agent defender who was brought in shortly after the draft.

After being waived by Chicago on July 22, former Kansas Jayhawks standout Jereme Robinson latched on with the New England Patriots. His time there lasted all of one preseason game as he was waived on Aug. 19. Now, Jereme Robinson has signed with his third team since going undrafted. The Philadelphia Eagles have picked him up just hours before their preseason finale.

Because Robinson was only signed nine hours before Philadelphia's final exhibition game of the preseason campaign, the likelihood that this signing is anything more than adding an extra body to the roster to make it through Friday's matchup with the New York Jets seems slim to none.

Robinson wasn't considered to be good enough to even join the Bears as part of their training camp roster. The Patriots saw all they needed to see to show him the door after just two snaps as part of the special teams unit in a preseason game. It is almost impossible to fathom Robinson walking in the door and having anything more than the proverbial cup of coffee with the defending champions.

Perhaps Robinson will find an opportunity somewhere in the NFL down the road, but assuming this stint in the City of Brotherly Love is a short one, roughly 10% of the league has already told him they aren't interested.

Either way, the Bears appear to have made the right decision to cut bait on the UDFA defender when they did.
