Malik Muhammad continues to make a splash at the Chicago Bears Training Camp. Recent reports show that the fourth round selection out of Texas has shown great promise in the Bears new defense, and that he's recently gotten plenty of reps with the first team. Dennis Allen, the Bears defensive coordinator recently had several positive things to say about the young cornerback, as he attempts to secure a starting job in his first season in the NFL.

Being a rookie on an NFL team is an extremely difficult job. Between learning your new team, learning a new playbook and getting accustomed to playing in a new city, you're also thrust into an environment chock-full of experience and veterans that are ready to show that you're not. To go out there and show that you can earn first team reps is no small feat.
Getting the attention of Dennis Allen is nothing to ignore, either. The man has been building defenses for longer than many of his players have been alive.
"They're gonna be coming after you. And, you know, the best corners have really short memories because everybody at some point in time has been beaten. And so it's just, can you come back the next play and have the same mentality in terms of how you challenge and how you compete? And he's shown that he's got the ability to do that."Dennis Allen
To be a defensive player in the NFL, these guys must be equipped with a skill set beyond just their physical abilities. Having the work ethic to be able to go out there again and again, rep after rep, even when you're beaten is what makes the difference. The corners that have stayed in the league understands this, and Allen does as well. Doing it as a rookie only amplifies the effect.
The bullseye on Muhammad’s back is not a punishment but proof that he has forced his way into the Bears’ starting conversation. If he keeps responding to every challenge with the same confidence, the rookie could turn that attention into a starting job.
