The Cubs have been in desperate need for help as they attempt to salvage whatever they can from this injury riddled season. With more and more pitchers falling to this injury or that injury, manager Craig Counsell has been working tirelessly to try to spark some momentum for the season again before all is lost. Prospects like Pedro Ramirez have been called up to the big leagues to add depth to the position players, but to also try to get the bats moving,
That's why it was such a big moment for Ramirez when he launched his first ever big-league home run into the center field bleachers. That's exactly the type of contribution the Cubs have been needing, and if Ramirez can keep that up, he could very well carve out a permanent place on the full time roster. For a team desperately searching for production wherever it can find it, seeing one of its young players deliver in a big moment was an encouraging sign.

It's many many little boys dreams to play in the MLB. I can recall being in second grade myself and writing a story for my teacher about how I single-handedly delivered Chicago the World Series to end the drought. It's only natural for little kids to look up to the boys in blue and to see their own fate lying there as well. That's why it must have been an emotional roller coaster for Ramirez to launch his first one into the stands.
The Cubs have spent whole weeks trying everything they can to spark some offensive momentum, but have all they've done been enough to catch the Brewers? Even the most established veterans have struggled at some points, and the young players providing the energy just hasn't been enough to keep the season afloat. With the Cubs barely playing .500 ball, it's going to be a long rest of the season as they attempt to catch the Brewers.
For a lot of players, a first big-league home run is the realization of a lifelong dream. For the Cubs, they're hoping Ramirez's memorable moment is also the start of a stretch that helps keep their season from slipping away.
