The seventh week of the NFL is behind us, and the Chicago Bears are in a good position. It could be a much better scenario, but all things considered, 5-2 after seven weeks isn't something to scoff at. The problem is the rest of the NFC North is in a good position as well. All four teams have winning records through seven weeks, a feat only shared with their counterparts in the AFC North.
This makes the actual pecking order of the NFC North worth arguing about. The standings say one thing, but watching these teams every week says something different.
Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings are undeniably the team to beat in the NFC North. They stand alone as the only team in the NFL that remains undefeated, and on top of that, they've also beaten their contemporaries in the division, save Detroit, meaning they hold tie-breaks. The Bears already lost their first matchup against them when Caleb Williams went down with a hamstring injury, and their next matchup isn't until Week 18. It could potentially be a division-deciding game, but that all depends on how the season plays out.
Chicago Bears
Then there's the Bears themselves. The return of Williams has undoubtedly added a much needed fire under the team, and Ben Johnson is just the right amount of crazy that they need. The Bears have had their setbacks, but that hasn't stopped their slow march to offensive dominance. The Bears still boast one of the best running games in the league, and nobody would be surprised if they finished the season as the top rushing team.
Detroit Lions
The Detroit lions also carry one of the most impressive rushing games in the NFL, and it would be difficult not to when you have the likes of Jahmyr Gibbs on your roster. The Lions have put together a 4-2 record through seven weeks that included their bye week. The Bears and the Lions face off in Detroit on Thanksgiving, and it's undeniably going to be a divisional showdown.
Green Bay Packers
The Packers started the season out slow, but that doesn't mean that they're a team that should be taken lightly. As Bears fans remember, the Packers gave the Bears a spanking back in Week 5 in a game that ended 31-7. It is worth noting that Caleb Williams didn't take part in that particular contest, but even if he had, the Packers looked excellent that game. They may hold last place in the division for now, but they've got enough talent and quality coaching to rise above that.
