The Chicago Bears might have a few different paths to a nightmare scenario. Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report went through the best and worst cases for all 32 teams. While the best case for the Bears was obvious, there are a few worst-case scenarios that could be laid out.
What is the Chicago Bears' worst-case scenario?
Knox highlighted the offensive like shake up for what will be an issue for the team. That is fair when you consider they might have new starters at both center and left tackle. Braxton Jones technically did start in Week 1 for the Bears last year, and might start again for the team in 2026. However, the plan has never quite revolved around him being the solution, so that position is in flux.Â
Center will certainly have a new starter; the question is just whether that is a veteran in Garrett Bradbury or a draft pick in Logan Jones. So, it is fair to see both positions being unsettled, and the team struggling to get through the season.Â
That is a bad scenario, but a worse one likely deals with Caleb Williams. It is easy to see that Williams had success for the Bears last year. The thought is that he did fine in the first year of a new system, and despite some rocky moments, he should be even better when he is more familiar. That is the Bears' best case in year two.Â
However, there is just as much of a chance that some of the issues that Williams has take longer to iron out. At times, his accuracy would be an issue, and his decision-making under pressure and in quick moments is an example of areas he struggles. Being more confident in the offense can help those scenarios, but there is just as much of a chance that Williams has been integrated to play a certain style and one offseason will not change that.
If his bad flaws continue and the bounces do not go their way in close games, questions could mount for Williams entering his fourth season. That is when the Bears would want to discuss a contract.Â
So, the offensive line shuffling is bad, but if Williams does not progress in the offense, we are talking about franchise-altering decisions.Â
The defense is another area that could let the team down this year. However, Williams' descent would be the worst case.
