If the Chicago Bears' worst decision of the offseason was to trade for Garrett Bradbury, they might be in good shape. Moe Moton of Bleacher Report highlighted the biggest potential bust for every NFL team, and he chose Bradbury for the Bears. However, the reason being the Bears benching him for Logan Jones might be exactly what the team wants.
 Chicago Bears' biggest bust could be a good thing for the future
It is not a good thing for Bradbury to be a bust. The Bears did trade a fifth-round pick for him. However, plenty of fifth-round picks do not see the field in their careers, and the team just traded for him to be their insurance.
When they traded for him, they were unsure what was going to happen at center. Drew Dahlman just surprisingly retired on them, and they were at a point where they were unsure how the draft would go. At the time that they traded for him, they could not withstand Bradbury being a bust of an addition.
 However, the Bears might have reached for Logan Jones in the second round, but it did ensure he would be on their team this season. It is clear they are high on Jones coming into the NFL.
This makes Bradbury expendable to a degree. The Bears still need Jones to earn a starter spot. As a second-round rookie, the expectation should be for him to get into the lineup at some point. However, plenty of rookies are not ready to start by the first week of their NFL career.Â
So, the Bears might need Bradbury to hold things down for a week or two.Â
Some of the worst-case scenarios would be Bradbury being so poor that he costs the team in close games, and the season flips on an early-season game that should not have happened. Him struggling so badly that they force Jones into the lineup before he is ready is also on the table.Â
However, Bradbury does bring a floor of a low-end starter. He might have his issues, but he should be able to get through a couple of games. Even if he does struggle, he should not be a difference-maker between wins and losses.Â
If he is below average for a few weeks, and the Bears turn to Jones early, the trade will look bad. However, the Bears will be starting their future center and will not be worried about how a past acquisition looked.
