The Chicago Bears dropped their second game of the season to the Minnesota Vikings, and to top things off, they may have lost their star quarterback for the foreseeable future, though that's pending new information. The most recent reporting from the NFL insiders is that the injury to Williams is a hamstring injury, easing concerns about a possible ACL or Achilles injury, but bringing to light many more questions.
Williams left the game late in the fourth quarter after a disappointing showing from the Bears offense up to that point. The injury appeared to be non-contact, with Williams sliding to finish the play and grimacing in pain.

Caleb Williams’ injury could force Tyson Bagent into an extended starting role
Williams was immediately helped off the field, and was clearly shown unable to put any weight on the leg. Given that NFL insiders have reported the injury concerning his hamstring, we'll be unaware of the return timeline probably for a few days.
Hamstring injuries can be a long-term issue sometimes, knowing that they can linger. Depending on the severity of this one in particular, we'll possibly be looking at a range of a few games to the whole season if it was torn and needs surgical repair.
Until Williams is healthy enough to make his return to the field, it looks like the Bears will turn to Tyson Bagent, a young quarterback who has garnered much trade interest in the past. Ryan Poles has repeatedly asked a deliberately high price for Bagent, and as such, he became the first Bears quarterback to get a contract extension since Jay Cutler over a decade before.
Bagent stepped in after Williams' unfortunate injury, but completed five of his nine pass attempts for 54 yards, but also was sacked to finish the game. It was a wild ride to the finish, as Bagent did well to find Luther Burden and Rome Odunze to move the sticks, but in the end it wasn't enough to make it. The Vikings won the game with only nine points scored, and the Bears failed to score a TD after posting 59 points in Week 1. Talk about embarrassing.
