The Chicago Bears' new head coach, Ben Johnson, held his first press conference in Chicago. Two days after he was officially announced as the new head coach, Johnson wasted no time in meeting the members of the organization and the media members.

Johnson was arguably the most coveted head coaching candidate on the market this offseason. He was near the top of the list for a lot of teams looking for a new head coach. The Bears had to go above and beyond in their offer to lure him to Chicago.

In his presser, Johnson revealed the promise the Bears made him, per ESPN's Courtney Cronin. The 38-year-old first-time head coach said that the Bears are providing him with the "necessary resources" to build the team he wants, calling their priorities "straight."

Ben Johnson Reveals the Promises the Bears Made Him

That is a notable statement by Johnson. The phrasing "necessary resources" likely means the Bears will be willing to spend in the offseason, both in terms of building out Johnson's staff and also the roster. We can expect the Bears to be active in free agency and the trade market to give Johnson the team he wants.

Most of these resources will have to come on the offensive side of the ball. The Lions led the league in scoring last season and were a top-five offense throughout Johnson's tenure there. Now, he is coming to an organization that was the bottom of the league in total offense and bottom-five in scoring last season.

Not only does the roster need significant upgrades, but internal development for young stars like Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze is also of utmost importance. How much Johnson will be able to transform in his first year as a head coach will be fascinating to watch.
