The Chicago Bears came away with their second straight nail-biter victory in Week 6. Unfortunately, they left Washington with some serious injury concerns. In fact, DJ Moore didn't even leave Washington, as he was taken to an area hospital in an ambulance after the game. No additional information was provided to the fans, raising the concern level among the fanbase.
On Tuesday, Ben Johnson spoke to ESPN1000 and gave the latest on the star receiver: "I think we got some good news in that regard… I think he’ll be day-to-day going forward. It was a groin deal that he was dealing with, but I think we’re going to be ok," via UnderdogNFL on X. The day-to-day designation is certainly positive, but we should have more of an update once the Bears release their first official injury report later this week.
Ben Johnson Eases DJ Moore Injury Concern
The fact that Moore still had to spend the night at the hospital for just a groin injury is interesting, and one has to wonder if there is more to the story than what is being reported. The 28-year-old WR was initially seen in some discomfort after taking a hit to his midsection in the first quarter. He was seen limping off to the sideline and received treatment throughout the game.
Yet, he was still able to play 60 snaps in total, only missing four offensive snaps. He also got his usual workload in terms of targets, finishing the game with five targets, while only catching three for 42 yards.
After the game, Moore was seen in the Bears' locker room before heading off to the hospital, further suggesting that the issue may not be too serious.
Perhaps more concerning than his injury, however, is the slow start Moore has had to the season. He is currently on pace for a career-low 731 yards and three touchdowns, after seemingly losing his WR1 status to Rome Odunze. Moore hasn't gone over 50 receiving yards since the season opener, and for the Bears' offense to really start humming, they need their veteran playmaker to go back to his 2023 self.
This is a short week for the Bears before they host the Saints in the early Sunday slate. Moore should be considered questionable at best for that clash, but the Bears should still be favored against the 1-5 Saints regardless of his availability.
