Luther Burden III has quickly become one of the hottest names on the Chicago Bears. Since the departure of DJ Moore via trade to Buffalo this past offseason, the top receiver job remains open in the windy city. Though many see Rome Odunze as the natural successor to the job, Burden has caused many heads to turn both during OTAs, and now at training camp.
Last season, Burden had a slow start. As a rookie competing for snaps and playing time, it's not always easy to get noticed. But with some healthy competition, and some timely injuries, Burden emerged as one of the top receiving option Caleb Williams and the offense had at their disposal.Â
Everyone sees something special in Burden

It takes an immense amount of effort to even be considered to play for an NFL team. Every single member of those teams you see out there on Sundays have lived and died for those teams. They'll do what they must to stay on the team. But every once in a while, things click in place for certain players, and those players typically are remembered for years to come.Â
That's not to diminish the work and effort Burden has gone through to get where he is. Natural ability can only take you so far. You need to be intelligent, you need quick reactions, and not to mention the insane physical condition these players are in.Â
For Ben Johnson to be so excited about Burden is telling. For the GM to be equally excited is even more telling. If Burden continues down this path, and he doesn't turn to be a bust, we may see a future in which Burden is a name that goes down into the history books of Chicago.Â
