Fans can see that Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is progressing in the offense. He has taken a big step on the field this year, and it is starting to show in the way the team wins games. Head coach Ben Johnson noted that Caleb is much further along now that he is in his second year, and Johnson is giving him more control at the line.

“Well, he's definitely further along in the offense than he was,” said Johnson. "We got a ton of confidence in him.”

Chicago Bears Confidence in Caleb Williams Keeps Growing

Johnson gave fans and media a little look into why Williams is so impressive. He noted that the team has full confidence in him right now because they see how hard he is working throughout the week to clean up his game.

“I know if things don't look great necessarily early on in the week, I trust him at this point to get it down by the time we get to game day,” added Johnson. “That's a credit to his approach right now. It's awesome. He does a phenomenal job working.”

Johnson detailed a specific moment where he saw Williams going above and beyond to clean up his game.

“I looked out there, I think it was Saturday afternoon after our red zone practice, and he and JT Barrett were still on the field for an extra hour after practice had already ended. And so, that's just kind of where he is right now as a player. He loves downloading all this and then bringing it to life on game day. And I think he's played really well for these last three games.”

The Bears are 3-0 since Williams has returned from his hamstring injury. The offense scored 31, 30, and 34 points. Right now, Williams is completing 71% of his passes. His career-high is 62.5%, and last year he only completed 58% of his passes in the Ben Johnson offense.

His adjusted net yards per attempt was 6.8 in his first year with Johnson and 5.1 as a rookie. This year, it is 7.3. He is on a much different level, and his head coach has recognized that. Johnson was hard on him last year, but now the talk is much more centered around praise and respect.

This shows that Williams is putting in the work. The team has another chance to show the progress of against a hot Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense in Week 9.
