After a better-than-expected 2025 season, the Chicago Bears will look to keep the good vibes rolling into free agency next month.

One of the Bears’ top priorities this offseason is re-signing as many of their players as possible, including Kevin Byard III, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and Nahshon Wright. If Chicago can get Wright and Byard or Gardner-Johnson back, that would be a huge boost going into next season.

However, it's possible that Wright, who is coming off a Pro Bowl season in 2025, could get a big offer in free agency from another team that has more cap space than Chicago.

In fact, Spotrac projects Wright’s calculated market value as a three-year, $50 million contract with $16.7 million AAV. If that’s the going rate, or higher, for Wright, the Bears might have to bow out and go a different direction at CB2.

One direction could be to give Tyrique Stevenson another chance on the outside, or bring in a veteran such as Rasul Douglas, who is set to become a free agent next month. Bears fans are quite familiar with Douglas, as he spent three seasons with the Green Bay Packers.

Bears Should Keep an Eye on Former Packers CB Rasul Douglas in Free Agency

During his three-year tenure with the Packers, Douglas elevated his game, racking up 32 pass deflections and 10 interceptions, including two interceptions returned for touchdowns.

Opposing quarterbacks also didn’t fare well targeting the veteran cornerback, who allowed a 60.3 percent completion rate on targets, while holding opposing QBs to a 78.5 pass rating, despite giving up 12 TDs.

This past season, Douglas returned to the AFC East and signed a cheap one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins. The ex-Packer outperformed his $1.5 million deal, as he was one of Miami's best defenders.

The 30-year-old Douglas tallied 62 combined tackles, 13 pass deflections, two tackles for loss, two quarterback hits, one forced fumble, and one sack across 15 games (13 starts). The ex-Packer also allowed a 54.5 percent completion rate on targets, an opposing QB passer rating of 73.0, and only three touchdowns.

Those aren’t bad numbers from Douglas, especially considering that the Dolphins gave up the 15th-most passing yards per game (216.4) in 2025. With a new regime taking over in Miami, it's not guaranteed that they keep Douglas around.

If he hits the open market, Spotrac projects Douglas’ market value as a one-year, $4 million deal. And if that’s the going rate for the veteran cornerback, the Bears should be all in on bringing him to the Windy City.

At worst, he’s a backup behind Stevenson, who is entering the last year of his rookie deal. Or he outplays Stevenson in training camp, wins the job, and gives defensive coordinator Dennis Allen and DBs coach Al Harris another big target on the outside, capable of creating turnovers.

Forcing takeaways played a huge role in the Bears’ success in 2025. Wright contributed to that, and possibly getting Douglas to fill that role isn’t a bad idea, as he’s showing no signs of slowing down.
