The Chicago Bears sent the Green Bay Packers packing in the Wild Card round, and things have gone from bad to worse over the last few weeks. The Packers have seen several coaches leave town, creating voids left and right on the staff.

As the Packers try to fill in their staff for next season, they made an uninspiring move. On Wednesday, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that Green Bay is naming Luke Getsy as their quarterbacks coach. And from the outside looking in, that's a win for the Bears.

Packers Name Former Bears OC Luke Getsy as QB Coach

This move doesn't move the needle much, as the Packers are replacing Sean Mannion with Getsy. Mannion was only in Green Bay for two seasons, but he played a critical role in the development of Malik Willis and helped Jordan Love take strides.

In addition, the Packers lost Jeff Hafley to the Miami Dolphins, who took Sean Duggan and Ryan Downard with him. Not only did they lose their top-notch defensive coordinator, but they replaced him with Jonathan Gannon. Based on the names linked to Green Bay for their DC vacancy, the Gannon hiring felt dull.

There were reports that Jim Leonhard had an interest in Green Bay, but at the time, the Broncos were still in the playoffs, so the Packers didn't want to wait and decided to hire Gannon. Not only did this happen for Green Bay, but they also kept special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia despite his unit underperforming for another year. The Packers also decided to keep Adam Stenavich around instead of promoting Mannion.

Mannion determined that Green Bay wasn't the best fit for his career development and bolted for Philadelphia. That forced the Packers to look elsewhere before choosing Getsy, and Bears fans have a history with him.

Getsy was Chicago's offensive coordinator for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. And during those seasons, the offense was underwhelming. Under Getsy's guidance, the Bears finished 28th in total offense and 32nd in passing offense in 2022. Chicago's offense didn't improve much in 2023, ranking 20th in total offense and 27th in passing.

Getsy then landed on his feet as the Raiders' offensive coordinator, but he didn't have success there either. They were 18th in passing, 31st in rushing, and 26th in scoring offense (18), leading to Getsy getting fired in November.

The Packers' choice to bring him in is more about comfort than getting new voices in the building. This is now his third stint with the team, but from the Bears' perspective, Green Bay promoting an underwhelming addition like Getsy to the staff is a win.

The Packers' season ended in January at Soldier Field, and over the last several weeks, things have continued to go south for this team, which is fantastic news for the Bears.
