Bears Veteran Likely Just Attended His Last OTAs With Chicago

There's a good chance this playmaker won't be back in the Windy City next offseason.

The Windy City is a little quieter these days now that the Chicago Bears have put organized team activities (OTAs) and their mandatory minicamp behind them. First-year head coach Ben Johnson and his staff's attention is officially on this year's training camp, which will be held at Halas Hall beginning on July 23.

Johnson has a better sense of what his first NFL roster will look like after assessing the competition throughout the offseason workouts. While some Bears stood out for all the right reasons, one veteran's performance made it clear he just experienced his last OTAs in Chicago.

Bears WR Samori Toure Just Attended Final OTAs in Chicago

With the Bears adding the likes of Luther Burden III, Olamide Zaccheaus, and Devin Duvernay to their wide receiver room this spring, some of their return wideouts' stock has taken a hit. That includes veteran WR Samori Toure, who's officially a long shot to return for another offseason in the Windy City.

Toure, 27, is a former 2022 seventh-round pick by the Green Bay Packers. The ex-Nebraska Cornhusker's time with the Bears' NFC North rival was far from productive, though, as he only caught 13-of-28 targets (46.4%) for 160 receiving yards and a touchdown in 22 games between the 2022 and 2023 seasons. The Packers had seen enough at that point, waiving him before the 2024 campaign began.

Toure's time in the unemployment line was shortlived, as he was signed to the Bears' practice squad less than a week after his Packers release. He didn't appear in a single regular-season content; however, that didn't stop Chicago from signing him to a future/reserve contract in January.

After failing to get on the field in 2024, Toure has had an abysmally quiet offseason. He failed to make waves throughout OTAs and minicamp, leaving his outlook bleak before the action resumes in July. Replicating these underwhelming results in training camp will all but certainly seal his fate in Chicago with the chance that he won't even survive the final preseason cuts.

With the clock ticking before another grueling training camp, Toure must find a way to quickly step up if he wants to be included in next year's Bears OTAs.
