The Chicago Bears could be in the market for additional secondary depth after placing safety Jaquan Brisker on injured reserve last week. Brisker has been out for several weeks since he suffered a concussion in Chicago’s Week 5 win over the Carolina Panthers.

Without Brisker on the field, the Bears have leaned on Elijah Hicks, who has started in the last five games.

Hicks has played well, recording 30 combined tackles, two pass deflections, and two fumble recoveries. However, if Chicago hopes to make the postseason, they need another veteran at safety.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Bears are working out free agent safety Terrell Edmunds on Tuesday, who recently played with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Jacksonville Jaguars this season.

If Chicago were to sign the veteran defensive back, he would be a part of the same defense as his brother, Tremaine, who is in his second year with the organization. The 27-year-old safety was released earlier this month by the Steelers after appearing in five games.

Pittsburgh signed Edmunds off the Jaguars practice squad in September. After playing nine games last season with the Titans, Edmunds signed a one-year deal in free agency with the Jags.

The veteran safety was a part of the Kevin Byard III trade, which sent the Pro Bowl safety to the Eagles and Edmunds to Tennessee. Last season with the Titans and Eagles, Edmunds posted 48 combined tackles, 2.5 sacks, two pass deflections, and an interception.
