What a time to be a Bears fan! Starting with the Ben Johnson hire, the Chicago Bears have made the biggest splash of any team in the NFL since the end of the 2024 campaign. First, they succeeded in hiring the most coveted head coach candidate in the league; then, they wasted no time in completely revamping their biggest area of need, the offensive line, by acquiring three starters. Moreover, they added Grady Jarrett and Dayo Odeyingbo to the defensive line to further bolster the roster.
As a result, the vibes around the team are positive. The players are counting down the days until the start of the new season. In fact, one key Bears player is openly discussing his desire to stay in Chicago for a long time. Kyler Gordon, entering his fourth season with the team, is advocating for a contract extension, per ESPN's Courtney Cronin.
Kyler Gordon, who is entering his 4th season, on a contract extension with the Bears: “ I love Chicago. I love everything about it. The people, the history, the team, community. This is where God is telling me to be, this is where I will be. It’s where I want to be. As far as an…

Bears News: Kyler Gordon Openly Asks for a Contract Extension
In his third season with the team after being selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Gordon finally took the big step forward that the fans have been expecting from him. The 25-year-old defensive back lined up primarily as a nickel corner alongside Jaylon Johnson and Tyrique Stevenson. He played 78% of defensive snaps and received a career-best 76.0 overall grade on Pro Football Focus.
"I love Chicago. I love everything about it. The people, the history, the team, community. This is where God is telling me to be, this is where I will be. It’s where I want to be. As far as an extension, we’ll see what happens. I’ve got no control over that, but God will."Kyler Gordon
The extension negotiations between Gordon and the Bears will depend on how the rest of free agency goes for the Bears. While most of the big-name free agents have found their homes, the Bears still have a few key names like Keenan Allen, Teven Jenkins, and DeMarcus Walker, whom they have to make a decision on.
Once they have a clearer picture of where things stand financially, it behooves the Bears to sign one of their young standout performers, like Gordon, to a long-term contract.
