Bears Stud Has Incredible Response to Ben Johnson Hiring
By Joe Summers
The Chicago Bears officially have their head coach of the future, reportedly agreeing to terms with Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson to take over operations.
It's a monumental acquisition for an organization that has largely struggled to nail the hiring process. Johnson was the most coveted candidate by most teams' estimations based on his incredible work with Detroit. For Chicago to secure his services represents a monumental change in direction for a struggling franchise.
At least based on one crucial Bears player's reaction, it sounds like the roster is happy about the decision.
Star safety Jaquan Brisker, who was one of the lone bright spots on this year's team, took to social media to express his happiness in the signing.
Brisker put a GIF of The Joker from a Batman movie, signaling the signing is about "sending a message," which should say everything about how the locker room feels. Despite being limited to just five games in 2024, Brisker is one of the most important defensive players and a leader for the organization. That he signs off on the move indicates his teammates likely do as well.
This is a player who burst onto the scene with 209 tackles combined in his first two years. While he was limited to just five games this year, he was on pace for career-best numbers. Considering the fact that Chicago's defense is a strength entering the campaign and Brisker was a large part of that reasoning, it's wise to get him on board.
Nonetheless, bringing Johnson on board is about the offense. Caleb Williams was set up to fail based on the front office's poor decisions. Finding someone who can actually complement his game and design an offense around him was of paramount importance.
The Bears nailed this hire and the players are happy. It's a beautiful day in Chicago and the coming months should only get better.
