Bears still have three offseason needs despite productive summer

The Chicago Bears did a good job solving their offseason questions, but no team enters the year absolutely complete. Brett Sobelski of Bleacher Report went through the three things that every team must do to finish off their offseason. It is hard to argue with the Bears' choices.

Chicago Bears have three clear offseason needs

The first need that Sobelski listed was finding a pass rusher. This is the most obvious need. What is wild is that this was the number one need to start the offseason. To be fair, the Bears had a surprising retirement at center, and left tackle became a bigger need than expected.

However, a lot of the Bears' other moves, such as wide receiver and safety, were them deciding to go in a different direction. So, while they shuffled in those areas, they neglected their biggest need.

There are a few notable free agents, but Chicago has to accept that this will be an issue all season.

The second need listed was finding a starting center. It was a shock that Drew Dahlman retired, but the team did a great job replacing him. They have a veteran option and a young option. Garrett Bradbury will be getting the first look as a starter. However, rookie Logan Jones could easily slide into a starting role as soon as Week 1.

This is not as pressing an issue because both options are on the roster. Still, finding a center for Caleb Williams to gel with is vital, and shuffling will take time away from that.

Lastly, Sobelski wants the Bears to extend Darnell Wright. They picked up his fifth-year option, so he is going to be on the roster next year no matter what. However, the longer they wait, the more his price tag is going to go up.

Beyond that, everything he has done in his first three seasons shows that he is a player worth investing in. They do not need to see him prove himself one more time before locking him down. If he shows up ready to work in training camp, a deal could get done.

The Bears will determine a starting center, and they will figure out a way to extend Wright. The question is just who and when for those two. However, they might not resolve the edge rusher position at all this offseason. That will be the position to watch.
