The Bears have a critical divisional matchup on Monday Night Football ahead in Week 15, taking on the Vikings in desperate need to snap a lengthy losing streak. Unfortunately, Chicago has to prepare for the matchup without one of their best players.

RB D'Andre Swift missed practice on Friday with a groin injury. His backup, Roschon Johnson, didn't participate as well due to a concussion, meaning the Bears could be forced to rely on Travis Homer.

Considering how poorly the year has gone, it's just the latest disastrous turn of events for a roster that expected to compete for the playoffs.

Bears RB D'Andre Swift Unlikely to Play in Week 15 vs. Vikings

Overall, it's been a rollercoaster of a season for Swift. He's averaging just 3.8 yards per carry but has 742 yards and five TDs on the ground with 34 catches for another 315 yards. Johnson has come on strong in recent weeks, though Swift remains the focal point of the backfield.

Against a ferocious defense like the Vikings, you'd ideally have all of your starters. Barring a sudden change, that won't be the case. The Bears' offensive depth chart is littered with injured players, speaking to the mayhem that's happened across the board for this franchise.

Luckily, there will be a new coach leading the team in 2025. Caleb Williams' rookie season might have been wasted, but there's still plenty of time to turn things around and get value out of his first contract in the league.

The offensive line needs drastic improvement. Otherwise, this is a roster built to compete. By making the right decision at head coach, Chicago could compete for the NFC North crown as soon as next season.

It's unlikely yet remains true. For now, losing as many games as possible is in the team's best interest. They're currently slated to pick ninth in the 2025 NFL Draft. With a few more poor weeks, the Bears could challenge for a top-five selection.

While no moves should be made to stint Williams' development, the latest injury news on Swift could be a blessing in disguise.
