The Chicago Bears lost their fourth-straight game to the Green Bay Packers in heartbreaking fashion last week. The Bears had a chance to snap their losing streak against their NFC North foe, but kicker Cairo Santos’ 46-yard field goal was blocked.

Chicago will try to put this loss behind them as they have another tough NFC North matchup against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. However, the Bears are concerned that they might not have one of their playmakers for this pivotal game.

When speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Chicago head coach Matt Eberflus said veteran running back D’Andre Swift didn’t practice due to a groin strain, per Josh Buckhalter. However, the Bears head coach added that Swift missing practice was more precautionary than anything.

Swift was limited to a 57 percent offensive snap share in last week’s loss, which was the lowest since Week 3. But the 25-year-old running back was still productive, with 71 rushing yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.

The Bears will evaluate Swift on Thursday to get a better picture of his health for this week’s game against the Vikings. If Swift cannot play on Sunday, the Bears will likely depend on rookie Roschon Johnson and Travis Homer.

Johnson hasn’t had much success on the ground, rushing for 137 yards on 46 carries (3.0 yards per carry). However, he’s scored five rushing touchdowns, which have all happened inside the red zone.

This season, the Vikings have the best-rushing defense in the league, allowing 74.4 yards per game. Minnesota’s defense is giving up 52.3 rushing yards per game over their last three games.
