The Chicago Bears sent a message to the rest of the NFC North in the 2025 NFL Draft that they will be a force to be reckoned with. The Bears used their first two selections in the draft on tight end Colson Loveland and wide receiver Luther Burden III, who will terrorize the NFC North for years to come.

That said, the three other NFC North teams also fared well in the draft, making this one of the must-see divisions in 2025. However, the Detroit Lions took a small loss in the undrafted free agent period, seeing one of their targets sign with another team in the NFC.

According to Sterling Bennett of 95.7 The Game in the Bay Area, undrafted free agent Jakob Robinson turned down offers from the Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, and Baltimore Ravens before signing with the San Francisco 49ers.

It’s not surprising that Robinson turned down the Lions to go with the 49ers, who need more young talent and competition at cornerback.

The Lions have a surplus of cornerbacks after signing vets Rock Ya-Sin and Avonte Maddox. Detroit also re-signed veteran Khalil Dorsey to a two-year, $3.3 million deal. Now you can’t blame the Lions for trying to be greedy and add more cornerbacks after seeing the number of injuries they had last year.

However, the Bears are happy to see the Lions lose out on Robinson, who is a solid cornerback. Last season, the former BYU defender had 43 combined tackles, five tackles for loss, five pass deflections, three interceptions, a fumble recovery, and a forced fumble en route to being named second-team All-Big 12.

The Bears cannot worry about what the Lions are doing in the UDFA period, as they hope to find their diamonds in the rough this summer. Chicago has had better luck, reportedly signing two safeties in Major Burns and Tysheem Johnson.
