The Chicago Bears hired Ben Johnson away from the Detroit Lions to be the new head coach of the Windy City's franchise.
In addition to being one of the brightest offensive minds that the league has to offer today, Johnson has deep knowledge of the NFC North and what it takes to get the best of the opposing defenses within the division.
Bears running back D'Andre Swift shared on Tuesday the biggest difference he's noticed in Johnson now that he is the man in charge on the sidelines compared to how he carried himself as offensive coordinator of the Lions, and, perhaps unsurprisingly, it painted the first-year head coach in a great light. That alone is a reason for excitement in Chicago.
D’Andre Swift Sees Difference in Ben Johnson
The fact that Swift had the opportunity to see how Johnson handled himself as the offensive coordinator in Detroit during the running back's time with the franchise makes his comments about the way Johnson is acting now that he's calling the shots that much more meaningful.
There was never any doubt that Johnson would be up to the task in terms of making sure the Bears are prepared on both sides of the ball every weekend. The biggest question facing him and the franchise was just how well he would handle this opportunity once Johnson took the job.
With Caleb Williams entering his second season as the franchise's starting quarterback, and several new weapons added on the offensive side of the ball for the former No. 1 overall pick to utilize, the fact that Johnson appears to be so confident in his scheme and approach to coaching this team should only heighten the vibes in Chicago.
Judging from Swift's comments, he could not be doing a better job of acclimating himself to the city, its fans, and this team.
