As the Chicago Bears get ready for OTAs it is worth bringing up some of the more interesting story lines that could actually occur during these practice sessions. What should Bears fans watch?
Who is the rotation at left tackle?
One of the biggest questions this offseason will be what the Bears do at left tackle. They arguably have four players who are claiming they could start for the team. Braxton Jones is the likely tackle to get first-team reps during OTAs, but Jedrick Wills, Kiran Amegadjie, and Theo Benedet will all be in the mix. Who runs with the second team? Who is the backup right tackle, and potentially out of the left tackle mix?
Do the Bears get Caleb Williams working with Logan Jones?
The Bears have to walk a fine line at center. They want Jones to be their starter of the future, but Garrett Bradbury is more likely to start in week 1. The center-quarterback relationship is one of the most valuable in the sport. Can Jones and Williams get on the same page while Bradbury starts?
Will Malik Muhammad work on the outside or slot more?
Muhammad played on the outside during his college career, but is a bit undersized, which is why he fell to round 4. The Bears have been creative and worked him into the slot during the rookie mini camp. Does that continue, and what type of split does he have between outside and the slot?
What is the Chicago Bears' rotation at linebacker?
TJ Edwards is not going to participate due to his injury last year. We know that Devin Bush is going to start, and D’Marco Jackson is likely to be behind him. From there, they have recent draft picks Noah Sewell, Ruben Hyypolite, and Keyshaun Elliott. All are former day three draft picks. They also brought back UDFA find Jack Sanborn, who brings special teams value. Who is the third linebacker, and who is the odd man out amongst this group?
How do the Bears use Zavion Thomas?
The most questionable pick that the Bears have made under Ben Johnson was Thomas in round 3. Early reports out of training camp are more centered around him playing running back and returning kicks, and less about him being an actual wide receiver. Does the wide receiver that they drafted in round 3 have anything as a receiver, or is he a gadget player?
