In the midst of a training camp that's already had its fair share of injuries, Darnell Wright was seen leaving Tuesday's practice early. Athletic training staff was checking out Wright's right arm in the elbow area, which is the same arm that he tore his UCL in last year, per Brad Biggs. The all-pro right tackle was recently extended by Chicago on a 4-year, $116 million deal, making him the highest paid right tackle in NFL history. Wright was a crucial part of Caleb Williams' development last season, and losing him for any period of time would spell serious trouble for the Bears offense

While the extent of Wright's injury is not yet known, there is reason to be optimistic. Last season, Wright tore his UCL against the Dallas Cowboys and was tough enough to re-enter the same game and play through the pain.

Preserving Wright's health over the next few weeks is priority #1

A report should come out on Wednesday further detailing Darnell Wright's injury, and while it's likely that it will be reported that Wright leaving practice was nothing serious, it does again remind us of the importance of preserving star player's health. Even if it's something minor in his right arm, shutting Wright down for even just a few days couldn't hurt.

If Wright turns out to have an injury causing him to miss any amount of time, the Bears have a few options. Theo Benedet is listed as the right tackle behind Wright on the Bears depth chart, and while he may not be the worst replacement in the world, it may be a better idea to move one of Braxton Jones or Ozzy Trapilo to the right side. Trapilo made a remarkable recovery of his own to return to practice so soon, and hopefully Chicago will have similar good news regarding Darnell Wright as early as Wednesday morning.
