Bears Letdown Has Clear Path to Turning His Fortunes Around

The veteran has not lived up to expectations so far but that should change starting this weekend.

With Ben Johnson taking the reins as head coach of the Chicago Bears, fans in the Windy City had high hopes for an offense that would resemble what NFC North followers had seen in recent years from the Detroit Lions.

While there have been promising moments through two games, the offense is far from a well-oiled machine. One of the reasons this has been the case is the subpar play from veteran wideout DJ Moore. Moore has reeled in eight of his 11 targets, but he has only recorded 114 receiving yards and zero touchdowns to one fumble lost.

This slow start from Moore has already led to criticism from the fan base, with some going as far as to suggest the team would be better off trading the former Maryland Terrapins standout. Fortunately for Moore, though, he has a clear path to turning things around and getting the fan base back on his side.

Bears' DJ Moore Has Clear Path to Turn Season Around in Next 2 Weeks

There is no doubt that Moore has not had the explosive start to the season that fans expected. His struggles are only magnified by the success that Rome Odunze has had in Johnson's offensive scheme, as the second-year wideout leads Chicago with 13 catches for 165 yards and three touchdowns. There is reason to believe that Moore will right the ship as quickly as this Sunday, though.

The Bears are entering two straight matchups against some of the worst pass defenses in the NFL as they host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday before turning their attention to a Week 4 showdown against the Las Vegas Raiders. Through two games, Dallas has allowed 566 passing yards and four touchdowns while forcing just one interception. Las Vegas hasn't fared much better, allowing 512 passing yards and three touchdowns to just one interception.

If there were ever going to be a stretch of games where Moore could find his footing and get back to making the type of impact that fans are accustomed to seeing, it would be coming over these next two weeks. Moore needs to show up in a big way against the Cowboys and Raiders if he wants to help the Bears get out of the basement of the NFC North.

Should Moore be unable to do that, those calls for his time in the Windy City to come to an end sooner rather than later will only get louder.
