The Chicago Bears have been one of the most active teams this offseason. After making Ben Johnson the head coach, they have used the past couple of weeks to make new additions to the roster.

The trenches have taken the priority, as they've added Joe Thuney, Jonah Jackson, Drew Dalman Grady Jarrett, and Dayo Odeyingbo to name a few.

Chicago wants to be a physically imposing team, and these acquisitions showcase that. In the meantime, they brought in another receiver.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Bears agreed to terms with WR Olamide Zaccheaus. He will likely be the third WR behind D.J. Moore and Rome Odunze. With Zaccheaus in the fold, it puts third-year WR Tyler Scott on the chopping block going into the 2025 season.

Tyler Scott is on the Chopping Block With the Olamide Zaccheaus Addition

Scott was selected in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft by Chicago. When he was brought in, the Bears thought they were getting an agile, twitchy, and quick playmaker who showed flashes at Cincinnati.

That hasn't been the case. Scott has struggled immensely during his time with the Bears. As a rookie in 2023, he logged 439 total snaps, putting up 17 catches (32 targets) for 168 receiving yards. Things took a drastic step back in 2024, where he only had 20 total snaps. Scott finished the campaign with just one catch for five yards.

He was even inactive for a couple of games due to the coach's decision. It appeared he was already on thin ice last season, and Zaccheaus coming in only increases that possibility.

Zaccheaus has been a productive player with the Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Eagles, and Washington Commanders. He posted 400-plus yards in three of his six NFL seasons. Just last season with the Commanders, the UVA product had 45 receptions (64 targets) for 506 yards and two touchdowns.

Johnson likes what he brings to the table, which is why he was signed. Scott, on the other hand, will need to have a great minicamp and training camp to impress the coaching staff. If not, he could be headed out of town.
