Bears' Head Coaching Search Takes Terrible Turn With Latest Report
By Jovan Alford
The Chicago Bears will begin searching for a new head coach after they wrap up their Week 18 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. After firing then-head coach Matt Eberflus, the Bears have been connected to several potential candidates.
Chicago’s front office has to nail this head coach hire after missing on Eberflus, who finished his Bears’ tenure with a mediocre (insert record) and zero playoff appearances. Ahead of Sunday’s regular-season finale, we found out one candidate the Bears are set to interview.
According to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin, Bears GM Ryan Poles said on Chicago’s pregame radio show that interim head coach Thomas Brown will be given a formal interview for the team’s job vacancy.
As you can imagine, the fanbase wasn’t too happy to hear about Brown getting the Bears’ first head coaching interviews. However, it’s only right that he gets a chance to interview for the role as he was the interim guy and could provide insight on what changes the team needs to make for next season.
Everyone knows Brown will not be the next head coach as the team’s struggles have continued under his watch. Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports reported on Saturday it’s possible that the next Bears head coach could move Brown back to offensive coordinator, where he played a part in Caleb Williams’ development.
However, depending on who becomes the next head coach in Chicago, that coach could decide he wants a new offensive coordinator.
Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see who will be the next head coaching candidate the Bears bring in.
There’s a lot of intrigue around guys such as Mike Vrabel and Ben Johnson, who the Chicago fan base wants to see on the sidelines in 2025. However, do those guys believe management will put them in a position to succeed?
