It did not take long for Chicago Bears trade acquisition Jeffery Simmons to fit into the team. Simmons tied the team lead in tackles with six and added a sack in his debut against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 8.

Chicago Bears Love What They Saw in Jeffery Simmons Debut

Bears head coach Ben Johnson noted that Simmons fit in like he had been on the team all season.

“He's fit right in,” said Johnson in his post-game press conference. “You can feel his presence out there. Whether it's during the play or even after the play, you can feel him talking a little smack as well, which I think that elevates everybody around him.”

Simmons was known for trash-talking with the Titans and even famously chirped Caleb Williams during his rookie season. However, now the Bears are happy he is doing it for their team. The Bears head coach noted that Simmons was a player who got a game ball for how well he fit in.

“So, I thought he played outstanding,” added Johnson. “He got one of the game balls. I mean, to come in there and have a share of the lead of tackles and a sack in his first game. His impact was profound.”

Quarterback Caleb Williams also noted that he could feel the difference on the defensive side of the football.

“I'm happy he's on our side,” said of Williams after the game. “He helps everybody on that field on the defense. He helps the D-line when he gets double teams. He frees up other guys to be able to go be special. Then when he gets one-on- ones, it allows him to wreak havoc. And so, I'm excited he's on our team. He's a big key piece for us.”

Montez Sweat and Austin Booker both looked more productive in the Bears' win over the Seahawks. Sweat added four pressures while Booker produced two. The Bears lost two interior defensive linemen in Grady Jarrett and Kentavius Street. Those are their two starters and the loss would have been devastating.

However, most Bears fans would admit that they did not even realize the team was so thin on their line. It looked like a strength, with Simmons leading the way. With the Bears trading multiple first-round picks for Simmons, he needed to prove his worth right away. So far, the team is not regretting their decision.
