If you've heard anything about Zavion Thomas at the Chicago Bears' Training Camp, you've probably heard about how fast he is. The third round rookie has made quite the name for himself since arriving in Chicago. From his skills as a returner to a threat in the receivers room, coaches and pundits alike have been high on the young receiver.

Press Taylor, the Bears offensive coordinator recently had only good things to say about Thomas, despite the fact that Thomas had missed a solid chunk of training camp due to a minor knee injury.

"You see the flashes. We get the reports at the end of the day of miles per hour, and he's always beyond 20. So that's something you see. You saw it in the game the other day with a few opportunities and what he's able to do with it. I don't know how many people have taken one 97 on their first touch in the NFL, but that's something he's gifted with. But there's so much more that goes into earning a role for yourself week to week. And so that's something he's going to continue to prove and earn as we go into the season."

When a player misses time during Training Camp, they're normally a few steps behind due to the lack of field time with their peers. But as Taylor indicates, Thomas has shown a gifted ability with the football in his hands. It's clear the Bears will take all the steps necessary to get Thomas to a position that benefits all parties involved.

Taylor mentions the flashes of brilliance seen from Thomas. Everyone knows he can run like the wind, but can that translate into a starting role for the Bears? The Bears' front office has spent a lot of time and resources to equip the Bears offense with as many weapons and quality players as it can. This means that Thomas is joining a crowded receivers room that has already cut experienced receivers back to the practice squad.

On the other hand, the departure of Devin Duvernay to the Cardinals opens an opportunity for Thomas to show his skills as the Bears' primary return guy. He's already shown us a taste during preseason, and it couldn't have gone over better.

Thomas might not be a starter come Week 1 in Charlotte. It's likely that coach Johnson bestows that honor onto Khalif Raymond, the very veteran player that's been helping Thomas so much. But that doesn't mean we won't get a chance to see his brilliance in the regular season.

Regardless of what the starting roster looks like when it comes, Thomas is a name to watch. The Bears offense is expected to be one of the most versatile units in football, and that's sure to include Thomas and his incredible speed.
