Bears Already Fixed Shane Waldron Mistake in Just One Half After Firing
By Jovan Alford
Earlier this week, the Chicago Bears made a huge change on the coaching staff, parting ways with offensive coordinator Shane Waldron. Waldron struggled mightily as the first-year offensive coordinator in the Windy City, which was highlighted during the Bears’ current three-game losing streak.
With Waldron out the door, the Bears promoted passing game coordinator Thomas Brown to OC ahead of Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers.
The Bears’ offense needed a boost and found it in the first half of Sunday’s game against Green Bay. Chicago scored their first touchdown after 25 straight drives without one, thanks to a one-yard score from rookie running back Roschon Johnson.
In addition to the Johnson rushing touchdown, the Bears have found ways to get veteran wide receiver D.J. Moore involved early in the game. Moore has a team-leading six receptions (six targets) for 56 yards in the first half.
In the Bears’ previous four games, Moore averaged 3.3 receptions (six targets) for 26 yards per game. Seeing Moore involved early is a good sign for the Bears as he’s their No. 1 option in the passing game.
Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams has played well too under center. The former USC star QB has completed 9-of-12 passes for 85 yards. He’s also done a good job using his legs, picking up a team-leading 60 rushing yards.
The Bears’ offense is in a great spot through the first two-quarters of Sunday’s game. Let’s see if they can continue to fix the mistakes that plagued them over multiple weeks.
