The Chicago Bears have made it clear they wanted to upgrade the offensive weapons around Caleb Williams this offseason. Chicago used its first three selections in the 2025 NFL Draft to address needs on that side of the ball.
While they did ultimately take another offensive player with their final selection in the draft (running back Kyle Monangai), Bears GM Ryan Poles may have another move in the works. A recent rumor noted Poles and co. were aggressively pursuing former All-Pro RB Nick Chubb, whose future was unclear in Cleveland.
Now, Chubb's tenure with the Browns is all but officially over after fellow RB Jerome Ford agreed to a paycut, clearing the way for him to land in Chicago.

This should be welcome news to Chicago. Pairing a physical runner like Chubb with a home run threat in D'Andre Swift should provide the offense with the same type of 1-2 punch that Ben Johnson had so much success with as the offensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions.
The four-time Pro Bowl selection at running back has stated that he plans to be stronger than ever upon his return from his latest injury setback. If Chubb can come anywhere close to being the player he once was, his addition to the fold in the Windy City would help complete this new-look offense led by a mastermind in Johnson.
Given the market for running backs has shrunken following the draft, Chicago shouldn't have much competition to sign Chubb, especially since he's coming off of another major injury. Getting him at a discounted rate, however, would only make this signing even more of a potential steal in the making.
