The Chicago Bears do not play until Monday Night Football in Week 3. However, as of Friday evening, nobody knows who the team is going to start at quarterback. As head coach Ben Johnson told the media, the team could start any of their three options.

The Bears do not plan to make a move at quarterback, so all three quarterbacks will enter the weekend with a chance to play.

Chicago Bears are not revealing quarterback plans before Week 3

Caleb Williams has a grade 1 hamstring injury. Everything indicates he will not play this week. Ben Johnson said that it would be a stretch, and Williams has not practiced. However, the team maintains that he is week-to-week and his status will be determined before the game.

All expectations are for Tyson Bagent to start if Williams is not ready to go. Bagent has backed up Williams for his entire career and stepped in for the injured Williams last week. However, in his limited time on the field, the fourth-year quarterback suffered a concussion.

Bagent appeared to be progressing through the protocol as of Friday. Johnson made it clear that regardless of his practice status this week, if Bagent is healthy, that is who the team is riding with.

Still, the Bears need him to get through more phases of the protocol before they start to think about his status.

If those two are down, the team will be looking to Case Keenum. Keenum is 38 years old and has mostly been around to help in the meeting rooms and bring a veteran's eye to two young quarterbacks. Still, he has been the one taking the reps with the first team this week.

Chicago has Miller Moss as the fourth-string quarterback. They will likely use a practice squad elevation on him. If Williams ends up being active, they can just make Moss inactive.

If Williams is out, Moss would be the emergency third-string quarterback.

If Bagent is inactive, they would have Moss as the backup. The team would not have an emergency third-string quarterback and would have to resort to a position player. That is how not adding a quarterback and trusting Williams up until game day can impact the team.

Perhaps they have faith that Bagent can be active. Perhaps they are just secure enough to risk it with two quarterbacks if he is not. We will see his status soon.
