The Chicago Bears are coming off their Week 7 bye and preparing to play the Washington Commanders on Sunday.

The Bears and Commanders have been one of the surprise stories in the league this season, thanks to the play of their two fantastic rookie quarterbacks – Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels.

Chicago’s defense will have a tough challenge on Sunday if Daniels plays as he’s dealing with a rib injury. However, even if the rookie quarterback doesn’t play, the Commanders have one of the best-scoring offenses in the league, which will test the Bears’ secondary.

Regarding the secondary, Bears head coach Matt Eberflus spoke to the media on Monday and provided an injury update on a few key defensive backs.

According to Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic, Eberflus said safety Jaquan Brisker is still going through the concussion protocol. He also said cornerback Kyler Gordon is “working through” his hamstring injury and they’ll see where he’s at on Wednesday.

Finally, Eberflus added that cornerback Tyrique Stevenson was at today’s walkthrough, which is a good sign, given that he missed Chicago’s Week 6 game with a calf injury.

While it’s good to see that Stevenson is okay, the Bears will hope to have Brisker and Gordon back sooner rather than later. Brisker missed Chicago’s last game after suffering a concussion in their Week 5 win over the Packers.

Meanwhile, Gordon suffered a hamstring injury in Chicago’s last game before the bye against the Jaguars. Chicago could turn to Josh Blackwell in the slot if Gordon isn’t available to play.
