The Chicago Bears are on the search for their next head coach with the 2024 regular season ending on Sunday. The Bears finished at the bottom of the NFC North with a 5-12 record, and have been linked to multiple candidates (Mike Vrabel, Ben Johnson, Pete Carroll).

Despite their poor finish to the season, all is not lost for the Bears, who have the talent and pieces on both sides of the ball to compete in the NFC North next season. They just need the guy to put it all together, which is something Matt Eberflus could not do.

Most Bears fans would love to see the organization bring in Johnson or Vrabel as the next head coach. Johnson would be a great coach to help Caleb Williams’ development, while Vrabel would help establish and bring a new culture to the Windy.

Bears defensive end DeMarcus Walker, who played under Vrabel with the Tennessee Titans in 2022, gave his thoughts on the former Titans head coach and what he brings to an organization.

“A lot of (BS) is going to get cut out. I’m sorry, but that’s the truth, though. I feel like discipline will be laid right down from the first day. A lot of those small things that we have done and gotten away with, that won’t happen,” Walker said via Adam Jahns of The Athletic.

Based on how things went with Eberflus this season, Chicago could use a head coach who will bring discipline and hold guys accountable. Over his six-year tenure in Tennessee, Vrabel led the Titans to the playoffs three times.

However, in his final two seasons with the Titans, they failed to make the playoffs and didn’t have a record above .500.

Nonetheless, the Bears will have some competition for Vrabel’s services as the New England Patriots could land him after firing head coach Jerod Mayo after one season. Regardless of who the Bears bring in as head coach, they must help change the culture and environment as the 2024 season was a massive disappointment.
