Rookie tight end Colston Loveland's health has been one of Chicago Bears fans' top concerns heading into Monday night's clash with the Washington Commanders. The 2025 draft's 10th overall selection has been nursing a hip injury that's held him to six offensive snaps and one appearance since the start of Week 3, and fans were hoping that last week's bye would be enough to get him back to full strength.
Unfortunately, Loveland isn't in the clear yet. The former Michigan stud was limited in practice throughout the week, culminating with the Bears listing him as questionable on Saturday afternoon, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero.

Although Loveland did log a full practice on Saturday, according to the Bears' Week 6 injury report, the rookie TE's questionable status is still concerning. After all, the 21-year-old playmaker didn't seem too concerned about his ailment on Tuesday when he told ESPN's Courtney Cronin that he "was over it pretty quickly" and "itching to get back as soon as possible."
Loveland's uncertain injury situation is just another example of how frustrating the start to his NFL career has been. Not only has he been plagued by his hip injury in recent weeks, but his potential has been limited by how the Bears have been using him, proven by his only seeing six targets across 80 offensive snaps, meaning the ball is only coming his way every 13 or so plays. That just isn't enough volume to get him going.
Even if Loveland does end up facing the Commanders, it doesn't sound like he'll be at 100% unless he has Wolverine-like healing powers. With that in mind, it seems like fellow TE Cole Kmet will get another chance to prove his worth to the Bears. The veteran pass-catcher has been a popular trade candidate among Chicago fans this season, as his performance (seven catches for 166 yards, one touchdown) doesn't match his $11.6 million cap hit in 2025.
Hopefully, Saturday's full participation is more telling than Loveland's questionable tag. Even though he hasn't lived up to expectations yet, the first-year Bear still oozes talent and could become a key part of the Caleb Williams-led offense if he can stay healthy.
Needless to say, monitoring Loveland's health will be at the forefront of Bears fans' minds in the coming days... again.
