The Chicago Bears are one of several teams looking for a new head coach after a terrible 2024 season that saw the team win five games. The Bears fired then-head coach Matt Eberflus a day after their Thanksgiving Day loss to the Detroit Lions.

Chicago named interim offensive coordinator Thomas Brown, the interim head coach for the rest of the season. That said, Bears fans hope the organization brings in Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson or former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel to be the next coach in the Windy City.

However, the Bears will have some competition for both candidates as Johnson and Vrabel are viewed as the top options during this head coaching cycle.

Bears News: Multiple Teams Interested in Head Coaching Candidate Mike Vrabel

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, the New England Patriots, and the Bears are all interested in Vrabel’s services. On Tuesday, the Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed reported that Chicago will interview the former Titans head coach on Wednesday.

Among all the teams interested in Vrabel, the Patriots might be considered the “favorite” after they shockingly fired first-year head coach Jerod Mayo on Monday. Vrabel has ties to the Pats as he spent eight seasons in New England as a player and helped the team win three Super Bowls.

At the same time, the Bears’ roster is way better than the Patriots on both sides of the ball. In New England, he would have a rebuilding project on his hands, but maybe Robert Kraft would allow him to see it through.

However, with the Bears, he’d have the pieces on both sides to compete in one of the better divisions in the NFC. Chicago needs a culture change after the tumultuous tenure of Eberflus, and Vrabel would be the perfect replacement.
