The Chicago Bears have been using the last couple of weeks to see who's going to step up and be a contributor for the 2025 season.

Training camp practices are giving coaches a good indication of who will make a case to stick onto the 53-man roster, and wide receiver Tyler Scott needs to turn things up a notch or risk being released at the end of the summer.

Bears WR Tyler Scott in Danger of Getting Cut

Scott was drafted in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL draft but has been a major letdown for the Windy City. In 28 career games, Scott has recorded just 18 catches for 173 yards and zero touchdowns.

The Cincinnati product has failed to step up and show why he deserves a roster spot. And with a new coaching staff in the building, he's fighting for his spot, but he has a massive uphill climb to make the team.

The Bears will have D.J. Moore and Rome Odunze as the 1-2 punch at WR, with rookie Luther Burden III expected to have a role. That's without mentioning Olamide Zaccheaus (who's having a huge summer), Devin Duvernay, Maurice Alexander, Jahdae Walker, and JP Richardson fighting for the remaining spots in the receiver room.

Walker, Duvernay, and Alexander all finished with more receiving yards than Scott in the preseason opener against the Miami Dolphins last week. Scott managed to reel in one catch for seven yards.

That's not good enough for a guy on the roster bubble, and if he doesn't stack up better days, he will be out of town.

The Bears are slated to play against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday before closing out the preseason versus the Kansas City Chiefs on Aug. 22.

The opportunities are limited for Scott to show what he can bring to the table, but the probability isn't the highest that he will. The 23-year-old hasn't been a consistent contributor throughout practices. And Ben Johnson is looking for playmakers he could rely upon.

The odds aren't in Scott's favor, but it takes just one monster performance to change the outlook around him. And we'll have to see if Scott can do that over the next couple of weeks.
