Salvon Ahmed
Ahmed has been the winner of training camp at the running back position. Despite having zero carries in the NFL since 2023, he could be one strong preseason performance away from locking down the third running back job.
- Â Roschon Johnson has been unable to grasp the job, and while Brittain Brown was here last year, Ahmed has flashed more in training camp. Can he take advantage in game settings?
Zavion Thomas
You hear that Thomas will return kicks. He will be a receiver and a running back. He can motion all over the field. We finally get to see it in the preseason. Do they unveil anything? Do they get his feet wet? He is a rookie who went in the middle of the draft, so the team cannot just hide him. What we see will set expectations for the season.Â
Logan Jones
Jones has been unable to get any work with the first team due to Garrett Bradbury. However, the Bears know that the future is Jones, and Bradbury is just holding things down until he is ready. Jones could take a big step in showing that he is ready if he can step up in the preseason. With the veteran presence of Bradbury, Jones should get plenty of work.Â
Left Tackle Battle
There have been four players competing for the starting left tackle job. How the rotation works, who starts, and who ends up with more snaps at right tackle than left will be telling. Right now, it appears Theo Benedet will play more right tackle, as he is the swing tackle. Still, that means Braxton Jones, Jed Willis, and Kiran Amegadjie are all going to get work. Who gets the most?
Tyson BagentÂ
The Bears want to trade Bagent, and he wants to be a starting quarterback in the NFL. However, these chances in the preseason are his only real chances of getting on the field unless an injury occurs. Can he improve his trade stock, or will he prove he is just a backup?
