The 2024 season is behind us and what a year it was. The Bears went into the season with some high expectations due to an overall better roster and a couple of top-10 picks in Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze. To say things did not go as planned may be the understatement of the decade.
With an entire new coaching staff aboard now, there will surely be plenty of roster moves in the coming months. Ben Johnson and company will likely see things a lot differently than the previous staff so this roster should look a lot different by the time training camp rolls around.
Let's check out five players that will not be returning in 2025.
1. Keenan Allen, WR
Allen will likely get a golden jacket one day as he has had a great career. His best days are clearly behind him, however, so coming back to Chicago may not be in the talks. The Bears have bigger needs than wide receiver so the contract Allen will likely be aiming for will not be doable for the Bears.
Allen had the third-worst year of his career this season posting 70 catches for 744 yards and seven touchdowns. That is still a very solid year, but not worth the price tag. Allen became a security blanket for rookie Caleb Williams which was the best outcome. Now that Williams has a year under his belt and a much better staff around him, the hope is that he can become a true leader and not depend on one guy to make all the plays.
D.J. Moore signed the biggest contract in Bears history and Rome Odunze will hopefully get paid in the coming years also. If Allen wants to test the market and return on a average deal, that could work. However, Allen may be looking to cash in one last time while he still has some juice left and the Bears should not be the ones to make that happen.
