The Chicago Bears are off to a 6-2 start to the 2026 season. What makes them even scarier is the idea that they could get even better in a lot of areas. Which Bears players are poised to be much stronger in the second half of the season?

5 Chicago Bears poised to break out soon?

Luther Burden

If you highlight just the games that Caleb Williams is healthy, Burden is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. He is averaging 2.95 yards per route with Williams as his quarterback. That would be fourth best in the NFL behind only Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Mike Evans, and Zay Flowers.

Burden is expected to continue to progress and if Williams stays healthy, he could finish as one of the best receivers in the NFL.

Kyler Gordon

The team has been working Gordon into a near full-time role. He only played 30% of the snaps in his return from injury. However, that jumped to 57% in his second game active and last week he played a season-high 39 snaps. Given his ability to defend the run and rush the passer he should be closer to an every down player.

Shemar Turner

The team has been easing Turner into the mix after returning from his Achilles injury. He played seven snaps in his return from injury. However, he went from seven to 13 snaps the following week. He also jumped from 13% to 24%. The following week, he saw even more work. He played 29% of the snaps, which amounted to 18 overall. The team is continuing to put more on his plate. His role could be valuable, as he can play on the edge and rush from the inside.

Sam Roush

The plan was for Roush to take a step in Week 8 with Cole Kmet out. Roush did not catch a pass, but he did play a career-high 37 snaps. Still, he played 38 snaps in the two weeks combined prior to that. The plan is to continue to integrate him in more.

Ozzy Trapilo

Trapilo was starting to get mixed in. However, after 17 snaps in Week 6 and 19 snaps in Week 7, he did not see the field at all in Week 8. It might have been a chance to reset after getting his feet wet. Now, the thought is that he can get into the lineup in the next couple of weeks
