3. Marcedes Lewis, TE
This addition would be more for the locker room than his production on the field. Marcedes Lewis has been in the NFL for the past 19 years. He was drafted in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
He's played for the Jaguars, Packers, and the Bears. He will be turning 41 years old in May but still hasn't announced that he's retiring from the NFL. That could mean he's looking to play his 20th season in the pros and will likely wait until the summer to ink a deal.
Lewis has spent the last two seasons with the Bears, providing them with a leader in the locker room and on the sideline on game days. At this point in his career, Lewis is more used as a run-blocker. He stands at 6-foot-6 and uses his frame to his advantage as a blocker.
It wouldn't cost much of anything to bring him back on a one-year deal. The Bears will rely on the running game in 2025 under Ben Johnson. Lewis is the perfect player for that style of play and would provide Chicago with more toughness in the tight-end room.
He's played in all 17 games during the 2023 and 2024 seasons with the Bears. Despite being one of the oldest players in the league, he's consistently available. There may not be many suitors for Lewis at this point but the Bears should look into bringing him back.
You can't put a price on having a smart veteran on your team, especially with a first-year head coach at the helm.
