3 Bold Predictions for Bears vs. Commanders
2. The Bears' 21 or Less Points Given up Streak Ends
The Bears currently have the longest streak in the NFL of games holding their opponent under 21 points at 12. They closed the final six games of last season doing so and have started the first six of this season the same way. They have not truly been tested by an elite offense at this point this year. The defense is still very good, but the Commanders are coming in hot ranking 4th in yards per game (384.1) and tied for 1st in points per game with the Ravens (31.1).
The same argument on the Bears not facing an elite offense can be said about the Commanders not facing an elite defense. Nonetheless, both units are playing really well to start the season so this game can land somewhere in the middle. This will obviously be affected on the availability of Jayden Daniels, but Marcus Mariota stepped in last week and looked pretty darn good throwing for 205 yards and two touchdowns on 18/23 passing.
The Commanders also boast the league's third ranked rushing attack and if there is one dent in this Bears defense - it is the rushing element. Brian Robinson is averaging 4.7 yards a carry and the Commanders offensive line is one of the better ones in football. PFF has them ranked as the 11th best unit in football currently. There should be lots of points in this one so the Bears streak can be in danger.
